"The MBSP rocks!!!" --Loy

Who are we?

We are students who:
  • are well-prepared for college studies
  • want to benefit from supportive relationships with others
  • want to achieve excellent academic progress
All students in the program are U.S. citizens. Depending on the needs of each Program, we are first generation college students, students with high financial need, African-, Asian-, Hispanic-American and Indigenous students.

Members of the MSPs are a community of students and professors who help make the transition from high school or community college to KU a smooth one. The program addresses academic, social, and personal aspects of your student experience and will help you maximize the benefits of your undergraduate years. When you enter a School or Department, the MSP will offer support until graduation. Over time, you will also be expected to assist newer students in your program.

Announcements

We’re proud to announce that the Multicultural Scholars Program has been awarded a three-year, $515,157 U.S. Department of Education FIPSE (Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education) grant. The grant will enable KU to expand the MSP to three Kansas community colleges in 2007, as well as evaluate and modify the program and prepare for replication at other universities and colleges. Renate Mai-Dalton is the principal Investigator for the grant.
