LAWRENCE--Students from seven Kansas high schools will be honored Wednesday, Sept. 27, by the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the KU Endowment Association.
The students, seniors from Anderson and Franklin counties, will be named Kansas Honor Scholars at a dinner program at 6:30 p.m. at the Holy Angels School, 514 E. 4th, Garnett. (List of students is below)
James B. Carothers, professor of English, will speak. Alumni Association representative Carolyn Barnes, director of the Kansas Honors Program, is in charge of award presentations.
The program will cost parents and alumni $6.50 each. Honored students will be guests of the Alumni Association and the Endowment Association.
Terry Solander, Garnett, is site and Anderson County coordinator. Charlie and Margy Porter, Ottawa, are Franklin County coordinators.
The KU Endowment Association and the KU Alumni Association began sponsoring the Kansas Honors Program in 1971. The program has honored 76,000 students in the top 10 percent of the Kansas high school senior classes.
