Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, also known as the College or CLA&S. The College, established in 1893, is one of 14 academic divisions at KU and encompasses 53 departments and programs. More than 1400 faculty members and graduate teaching assistants teach in the College, and more than 17,000 students are enrolled. Nearly half of the students at KU earn their bachelor’s degrees from the College.Offerings in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences cover hundreds of subjects including history, literature, chemistry, biology, art history, mathematics, anthropology, psychology, foreign language and political science among many others.
