Important: The following information only applies to web sites on the departmental web server, www2.ku.edu.

Enable cgi-bin

If you have recently requested a new departmental account on www2.ku.edu, your account may not permit script execution in the cgi-bin directory. If this is the case, you can contact Web Services at webservices@ku.edu to request activation of your cgi-bin.

Perl or PHP?

CGI Script Web Template implementation differs for sites written in Perl and PHP, so separate documentation pages are provided for each:

Note: ASP is another common web scripting technology, but it is proprietary to Microsoft web servers and is not supported on KU's Information Services web servers.
