KU safety presentations make this comparison:  "Your residence hall room is like your house."

Your hallway is like a busy street. There is one building on the Edwards Campus. It is locked and unlocked by Facility Operations employees of the Edwards Campus. There are fire and burglar alarms in the building. These alarms are monitored by Fire Detection Services of Kansas City, Missouri. The alarms are monitored 24 hours a day. If an alarm goes off, Fire Detection Services responds to the alarm and calls Orion Security of Overland park, Kansas and/or a staff member from the Edwards Campus.

Overland Park Fire and/ or Police are called as needed. Overland Park Police Department is the responding law enforcement agency for the Edwards Campus. Crimes reported to Edwards Campus personnel are reported to the Overland Park Police either by the individual or by personnel at the Edwards Campus.
