Constitution Day on Wescoe Beach

Location: Wescoe Beach

Stop by Wescoe Beach on the KU campus for a few minutes, and join the nation in reciting the Preamble to the Constitution. Leading the Preamble will be Student Body President Mason Heilman and Student Body Vice-President May Davis. Following the celebration, Elizabeth Berghout, carillonneur, will sound the bells from the Campanile.

Copies of the Preamble will be available at Wescoe Beach from student members of the Civic Engagement Committee.

Brian Barker, a circuit judge at the Old Bailey in London, and Richard E. Levy, J.B. Smith Distinguished Professor of Constitutional Law at the KU School of Law will discuss the history of the United States' and the United Kingdom's constitutional traditions, explore constitutional differences, and debate the significance of each country's Constitutional features.

Constitution Day at Memorial Stadium (Pre-game)

Game: KU vs. Duke University

KU fans are invited to recite the Preamble to the Constitution before the Jayhawks face Duke University.  The Preamble will be displayed on the Giant Video Board in the stadium.  Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little will lead the recitation while Elizabeth Berghout, carillonneur, rings the bells from the Campanile.  Following the recitation, the Marching Jayhawks will play the national anthem.
