Five KU students, two spring graduates and two faculty members are working this summer in Switzerland with more than 1,000 scientists who are preparing to launch a supercollider project that could change fundamental knowledge of the universe.

In July 1886, Elial J. Rice (left), David H. Robinson (center) and Francis H. Snow, were chosen to be the first three professors at KU while the first building atop Mount Oread was still under construction. Each was to be paid $1,600 per year in quarterly installments.
