The Department of Political Science offers degrees for undergraduate (B.A., B.G.S.) and graduate (M.A., Ph.D.) students. If you have questions about our graduate or undergraduate programs, we invite you to contact us. Our Graduate Director is Associate Professor Juliet Kaarbo and our Undergraduate Director is Associate Professor Fiona Yap.
Our course offerings are grouped according to subfields which represent our
discipline: American Politics,
Comparative Politics,
International Relations,
Public Policy, and Political
Theory. People who are interested in joining our department are invited to peruse our faculty and graduate student
listings in order to contact people who share their interests.
On August 27, Prof. Hannah Britton was awarded the prestigious Kemper Fellowship for Teaching Excellence, in recognition of outstanding teaching and advising. The award was delivered by the University's "surprise patrol". Hannah Britton has been a sought after professor and advisor since she arrived at KU in 2005. She holds joint appointments in the departments of Political Science and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Read the full press release here.

Robert Rohrschneider, an internationally renowned scholar with special expertise in the European Union, has been appointed the first Sir Robert Worcester Distinguished Professor in Public Opinion and Survey Research at the University of Kansas. The distinguished professorship was established through a gift of $2 million to KU Endowment by top British political commentator and survey research pioneer Sir Robert Worcester. The Department of Political Science at the University of Kansas invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Middle East Politics beginning August 18, 2009, January 1, 2010, or negotiable.
