KU is repeatedly listed as one of the "best buys" in higher education by such national ranking services as Kiplinger's, the Fiske Guide to Colleges, Kaplan's and the Princeton Review. One of four KU first-year students is awarded a scholarship.
KU offers many types of on-campus accommodations and highly recommends that all students live in facilities operated by the Department of Student Housing for at least their first year in attendance until becoming familiar with KU and the Lawrence community. Where students live will have a major impact on their college experience.
KU traditionally has attracted talented and ambitious students. Besides academic success, the university prides itself on a tradition of active and meaningful student involvement. Students are encouraged to get involved and show leadership.
